MR-VP Medium

Direction:

Suspend 17g in 1000ml distilled water. Distribute in test tubes in 10ml amounts and sterilize by autoclavinga at 15 lbs pressure (121^oC) for 15 minute.

Standard formula:

Buffered peptone 7 g/l
Dextrose 5 g/l
Dipotassium phosphate 5 g/l
Final pH (at 25^oC) 6,9

Use:

Recommended for the performance of the Methyl red and voges-proskaner teste in differentiation of the coil aerogenes group.

Simmons Citrate Agar

Direction:

Suspend 24,28g in 1000ml distilled water. Heat to boiling to dissolve the medium completely. Dispense as desired in tubes of flasks. Sterilize by autoclaving at 15 lbs pressure (121<sup>o
Standard formula:

Magnesium sulphate 0,2 g/l
Ammonium dihydogen phosphate 1 g/l
Dipotasium phosphate 1 g/l
Sodium citrate 2 g/l
Sodium chloride 5 g/l
Bromo thymol blue 0.08 g/l
Agar 15 g/l
pH 6,8

Use:

For differen tiating members of enterobacteriaceac on the basis of citrate utilization.</sup>
